Chengalpattu Diabetes Care and Research Centre

This is the first diabetic centre to be started in Chengalpattu, caters to the various needs of the diabetic patients under one roof. It is being run efficiently by the diabetic team comprising of a Diabetologist, Dieticians, diabetic nurses, Diabetic educator cum Counsellor, Public relation officer and marketing officer.

Diabetology- Diabetology department is aimed to treat the various problems of diabetes.

Diet clinic-The Diet clinic has trained dieticians to provide diet prescription, meal recall & to give advice to patients.

Foot clinic- This clinic was started to reduce the morbidity due to foot complications commonly seen in the rural population. A routine screening of all diabetic patients is being done with special equipments- Monofilament examination, Biothesiometer, Vascular Doppler. Specialised diabetic foot wear (MCP) is being provided for all patients.

Eye clinic- The eye clinic helps in screening and detection of early complications related to eye due to diabetes especially diabetic retinopathy.

Dental clinic- Regular dental screening is done for all diabetic patients in the centre.

Surgical clinic- SRH is equipped with 3 operation theatres with state of art facilities.

	The designers have taken all precautionary steps to offer an infection free zone to patient. The operation theatre caters to a wide range of surgeries like General surgeries, Paediatric surgery, Gynecological surgery, Gastroenterological surgery, Orthopaedic surgery, ENT, Dental, Ophthalmological surgery, oncological surgery, vascular surgery, and plastic surgery etc.
	Specialized theatre dedicated to diabetic foot surgeries is available.

Dialysis centre- Started to detect the renal complications due to diabetes at a reversible stage itself . Haemodialysis is being done at a subsidised cost to treat renal failure patients.

Diabetic counseling department – Specialized counselling to the diabetic patient and their families are given by trained counselors.

Physiotherapy department- The Centre has a well equipped physiotherapy department to cater to the needs of diabetic patients.

Diabetic camp department- This department is handled by Marketing officer, Public relations officer, Diabetic counsellors and Educators who coordinate with village panchayat heads & NGO’s to conduct regular diabetic camps in the villages.

Diabetic education department-

	This clinic has been started to educate the patients about diabetes .It is handled by efficient patient educators and counsellors.
	Free education and screening camps are being held in the surrounding villages every month and also in the Hospital premises through the clinic.
	Puppet show are held in the villages on the theme of Diabetic mellitus
	A monthly journal in the local language Tamil by the name “Inippum Nivaranamum” is also being brought out & distributed from the centre to create awareness about Diabetes.

Narbhavi Diabetic Care and Research Foundation
CDC & RC has been doing various free diabetic detection & screening camps in villages. To realise the objectives of CDC & RC, a trust was started in the name of Narbhavi Diabetic Care & Research Foundation to continue the various community activities of the diabetic centre in the villages.

Objectives

	To create awareness about diabetes mellitus and to educate the public on a regular basis.
	To conduct free diabetes screening camps, provide counseling and treatment for diabetes in the villages
	To establish, develop, maintain, support and aid in the establishment of research centers.
	To associate with foreign research centers, institutions etc, to promote research and development in the field of diabetes.

Chengalpattu Dialysis Centre SRH started the first dialysis unit in Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram District. Dialysis is primarily used to provide an artificial replacement for kidney function due to renal failure. It may be used for very sick patients who have suddenly but temporarily, lost their kidney function or for quite stable patients who have permanently lost their kidney function. Dialysis treatments replace some of these kidney functions through diffusion and ultrafiltration. Chengalpattu Dialysis centre is fully equipped dialysis centre with 6 dialysis machines to cater to the patient’s needs. The dialysis centre is managed by trained technicians and staff nurses.

Chronic kidney failure and end stage renal disease are dreadful complications of kidney dysfunction. Chengalpattu dialysis center provides care and does hemodialysis for those needy people at an affordable cost.

Chengalpattu Infertility Center With ever rising population of India, we still have couples who are not blessed with children. This center provides excellent care, guidance & treatment to those needy couple. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) with Donor Insemination procedure are also done here.

Infertility

	Infertility, whether male or female, is defined as the inability of a couple to achieve conception or to bring a pregnancy after a year or more of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse.
	Between 2 and 10% of couples worldwide are unable to conceive a child.
	Some couples experience secondary infertility i.e. are unable to conceive a second child & seek medical help for infertility.
	Among these couples, infertility is a problem both in male & female partners.
	WHO believes that around 60-80 million couples in the world are infertile.
	Infertility is a crisis of the deepest kind in our society. It threatens many aspects of couples life relationship to each other, but it also effects them individually and their relationship.
	It has major social implications in our society.
	Management of infertility includes both the physical and emotional care of couple. The physicians, nurses and all people involved in treating the infertile couple is essential with the various aspects of their condition. Counseling and contact with other infertile couples and help them to cope with the various aspects of their condition.

INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION PROCEDURES (IUI) SRH started the first fertility centre in Chengalpattu in 2001. This fertility centre has a fully equipped IUI laboratory with Incubator, Centrifuge, and lamina air flow. Trained technicians do the semen processing in the Intrauterine Laboratory, Intrauterine Insemination procedure (IUI) is done by highly qualified gynecologists & Donor Insemination procedures is also offered to treat infertile couples.

	SRH’s laparoscopic surgical art is the first of its kind in chengalpattu.
	Laparoscopic procedure is a minimally invasive procedure to treat various surgical & gynecological problems.
	Laparoscopy is a technique that utilizes a telescope & instruments placed through a small incision on abdomen less than 1 inch in size to visualize & treat surgical abnormalities that of herein would require large abdominal incision.
	Gynec laparoscopy offers comprehensive array of advanced procedure to treat infertility like Diagnostic Laparoscopy, Ovarian drilling procedure, hysteroscopic cannulation procedures.
	Hysteroscopy is a technique that utilizes a telescope to visualize the inside of the uterus.Removal of polyps, Hysteroscopic Cannulation procedure are done.
